Excel

The Excel program supports eligible students that need extra help to be successful in learning. Students diagnosed with dyslexia, speech/language delays, visual/hearing impairments, attention challenges, and learning disabilities may take advantage of the Excel program. Kelly Cinquepalmi leads this program.

Excel Step Up to Reading K — 2nd grade: All students in Kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 are assessed with Acadience (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills). Upon teacher recommendation and Acadience feedback, students that can benefit from extra literacy instruction and support are invited to be in a Step Up to Reading group.

Excel Reading grades 3rd — 5th grade: Students receive extra assistance outside of the regular classroom setting. Instruction focuses on vocabulary, word attack skills, comprehension, and written expression in a small group setting. 

Excel Math 3rd — 5th grade: Students receive extra assistance in math calculation, fluency, and problem solving. Math instruction will be given through the use of hands-on math manipulatives while in a small group setting. 

Study Skills 6th — 8th grade: Academic support provided in an individual or small group setting with study skills instruction given on an as needed basis.
